541 - Art Therapy Supervision

This course is an introduction to supervision with a focus on developing community and clinical placements. It will include building networking skills and establishing community connections with community agencies and clinical practitioners in your region. The intention is for the student to identify the services that are being offered, and to consider potential gaps and places for the development of art therapy services. Students will be introduced to the process of art therapy supervision. Students will develop professional, clinical, therapeutic and art therapy skills with the support of the supervisor.  Students will develop skills in planning and facilitating art therapy groups with consideration to ethics, group structure, professional boundaries, and therapeutic approach relative to setting and client/participant population. This course will prepare students to offer art therapy services to individuals and groups. The course focuses on learning to work effectively within relational supervision.
