Announcing the Inner Compass Art Therapy Clinic

The Kutenai Art Therapy Institute Association (KATIA) has a 25-year history of educating therapists, serving the community, and making significant contributions to the field of art therapy. Over time, we have found ourselves deeply connected to a vast network of skilled art therapists.

In this time of great need in our communities, we find ourselves perfectly positioned to help match our network of skilled art therapists with the people who want their support.

In response to this need, we are excited to be launching the online Inner Compass Art Therapy Clinic.

Inner Compass is an online service that matches Canadian individuals, businesses, teams, and groups with a qualified art therapist from the comfort and privacy of their own homes.

Even before the pandemic, 1 in 5 Canadians reported experiencing mental health issues or mental illness each year. Since the onset of the pandemic, according to the Canadian **Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, 50% of Canadians report worsening mental health and many have seen their stress levels double.

The goal of Inner Compass is to equip individuals and groups of all sizes with the tools to navigate the complexities of life including our global health crisis. While there are a growing number of options for online "talk" therapy, the non-verbal nature of art therapy can help us discover things we cannot initially express with words, while providing an experiential outlet for us to explore our challenges and strengths. Art therapy is an effective method of addressing grief and loss, trauma, mental health challenges, relationship issues, addictions, and much more.

Inner Compass offers art therapy in three different formats: individual art therapy for one-to-one support, group art therapy for teams or community groups, and art therapy workshops held around a specific theme or practice.

We would like to express our deep gratitude for funding provided by the Government of Canada, the Osprey Community Foundation, and the Regional District of Central Kootenay. Inner Compass was made possible thanks to the generous donations of countless individuals.

We see art therapy as a vehicle for social change. It is about discovery and re-imagining what is possible. We’d love you to check out the site and assist us in making the benefits of art therapy accessible to hearts, homes, and businesses. Helping to spread the word is a great way to contribute! Thanks!
