The Magpie’s Nest: Arts-based Supervision

The Magpie’s Nest: Arts-based Supervision is intended as a guidebook, resource, and source of inspiration to support the professional development and supervision for clinicians, art therapy students, art therapists, art therapy educators, on-site supervisors, peer supervisors, on-line digital art therapy supervisors, and registered art therapists providing group or individual supervision.

There is an ongoing emphasis on the importance of cultural safety and cultural humility in all aspects of therapy, supervision, and education using the transformative elements of a strengths-based approach to supervision. The intention is to support the development of professional identity and a personal approach to supervision. The chapters are a collection of essays and ruminations on the principles and praxis of supervision particularly with arts-based perspectives. The writing weaves poetry and nature-based reflections to ground and sustain the reader in the theory and process. There are many art and writing invitations for the reader to explore or facilitate with others.
