The Intro Workshop Series offers introductory explorations into fundamental aspects of art therapy practice. These online workshops are designed for individuals who are curious about or already engaged in art therapy. Prospective students considering the art therapy diploma program at KATI can attend these workshops to assess whether art therapy is the appropriate career path for them and to establish a solid foundation for further study.

Any of the workshops in this series can be used towards the 30-hour admission requirement for enrollment in the online hybrid delivery format of the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute diploma program.

For each workshop in our intro series we reserve one seat, free-of-charge, for a BIPOC registrant planning to attend the KATI diploma program in the following school year. Click Register for the workshop of your choice to claim the seat, if still available.

Everyone is welcome to attend these workshops, regardless of whether you are a seasoned art therapist seeking professional development and continuing education, or someone who is completely new to the field. No prior art experience is necessary. This series of introductory workshops aims to provide students with an understanding of the KATI educational experience, which combines transformative education, land-based art therapy, collective care, community action, and social justice.

In any of these online workshops, you can expect:

  • Hands-on experience in art therapy techniques and methods.

  • The opportunity to engage in the art therapy process using specific directives and spontaneous art.

  • Introduction to various art media, processes, and practices in an art therapy studio.

  • A deeper understanding of the field and its potential for healing, wellness, and self-expression through art.

  • Exploration of your own creativity and learning how to use art as a tool for self-discovery.

  • Development of art therapy skills in therapeutic presence and building relationships.

  • Integration of anti-oppressive practices within the context of an art therapy studio.
