National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Dear KATI staff and students,
Tuesday, September 30th, we will pause our work and classes to honour Orange Shirt Day/National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This pause is intended to give space for commemorating the loss, pain and suffering caused by residential schools, both historically and still ongoing today.
If you are not familiar with the story behind Orange Shirt Day, please check out this website:

You may also visit Life as Medicine, which is an organization of Indigenous art therapists. They have a page with art and poetry about the lost children of residential schools: https://lifeasmedicine.ca/remember-our-children/
And for BIPOC/racialized art therapists and students, CATA offers (Re) Centering Belonging, a supportive drop-in group:
Please take a moment in your day to reflect, commemorate, make art, connect with an Indigenous teaching, listen and learn. Send love and receive love.
Respectfully,
Melissa and Nicole
