Don't Forget to Weave in the Ends - Crafting Connection in the Space Between Words
This capstone uses an arts-based, narrative approach to explore the relationship between art, gift-giving and neurodivergence. Drawing on lived experience as a late-diagnosed AuDHD individual, it illustrates the benefits of art-making in supporting emotional expression, sensory regulation, and communication. Informed by Indigenous ways of knowing, the project examines the use of art as a form of nonverbal communication through the act of gift-giving. Highlighting the therapeutic potential of gift-giving, this book documents the creation of handmade gifts for members of the KATI community. These handmade offerings reflect the power of connection and express deep gratitude that could not be justly put into words.
