Unpacking ADHD: Art Therapy for Adult Women with Late Diagnosis
Unpacking ADHD is a second-person action research project inquiring how group art therapy could benefit women who were either diagnosed with or were exploring a diagnosis of ADHD in adulthood. Several themes emerged in a series of six online art therapy sessions with the participants, including overwhelm, anxiety, grief, selfcompassion, connection in community, uniqueness and identity. The researcher created a soundscape to communicate an embodied expression of the themes, which involved layering excerpts from the sessions and ambient sounds to capture the participants’ experiences and words
