Help Shape KATI’s Next Chapter: Join Our Board
For more than 30 years, the Kutenai Art Therapy Institute (KATI) has been part of the Nelson and Kootenay community—training art therapists while helping make art therapy services more accessible to people in our region.
Each year, KATI students provide more than 3,000 hours of free or highly subsidized art therapy services through supervised clinical placements. These placements connect our students with individuals, families, schools, and community organizations while giving them invaluable experience as they prepare to become professional art therapists.
As KATI looks toward its next chapter, we’re looking to welcome a few new members to our Board of Directors.
Bringing New Skills and Perspectives to the Table
Many people in Nelson know KATI, but may not know the full extent of our work in the community. Alongside our professional art therapy training program, our work includes community art therapy services, continuing education, partnerships with local organizations, and accessible creative programming.
Our Board plays an important role in helping KATI remain strong, sustainable, and responsive as we look to the future.
We’re particularly interested in connecting with people who have experience in:
Finance
Policy and governance
Business
Fundraising
Building philanthropic and donor relationships
You don’t need to be an art therapist or have a background in art therapy to join our Board. We’re looking for people who believe in the power of creativity to support healing, growth, and well-being and who would like to contribute their skills and perspective to a local organization.
Why Join KATI’s Board?
Serving on KATI’s Board is an opportunity to give back to your community while sharing the knowledge and experience you’ve developed in your own professional and personal life. It’s also a chance to build new relationships, gain or deepen nonprofit governance experience, and play a meaningful role in shaping the future of a long-standing Nelson organization.
Most importantly, it’s an opportunity to support work that has a tangible impact right here in our community.
Interested? Let’s Have a Conversation
You don’t need to know whether Board service is right for you before reaching out. We’d be happy to have an informal conversation about KATI, what the Board does, the time commitment involved, and how your particular experience could contribute.
