Job Posting: Art Therapist for Child/Adolescent Groups

This art therapist position is funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) and the funding is allocated specifically for offering services to children and adolescents. The art therapist will be responsible for:

  • Planning, promoting and facilitating two in-person art therapy groups at KATI

  • Maintaining clinical files including:

    • weekly progress notes in Jane App

    • summary reports for each client upon completion of the group

    • MCFD data entry requirements

  • Participating in interagency collaboration

  • As required – facilitating client intakes, clinical reviews, crisis intervention, phone calls, email communication and closing meetings

  • Complying with MCFD funding requirements

  • Attending staff meetings as required and maintaining communication with the Academic and/or Executive Director

  • Collaborating on referrals with the Campus Clinical Placement Coordinator

  • Being responsible for studio maintenance and preparation

  • Preparing art supplies / materials; & program supplies

  • Providing onsite supervision, mentoring and evaluation of student interns who will be assigned to the parent group as a clinical placement

  • Maintaining a safe space for art therapy participants and students

  • Attending 8 hours of monthly supervision with an RCAT supervisor provided by KATI

  • Submitting MCFD report/s as required by the contract

  • Maintaining up-to-date registration records as required by MCFD

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Graduate-level Diploma or MA from an accredited art therapy program awarded by September 1st, 2026

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience (can include clinical placement hours during training)

  • Related experience in facilitating art therapy groups with children and adolescents

  • Registered Art Therapist is an asset but not required

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365

  • Cultural sensitivity and responsiveness

Terms of employment:

  • September to December - Two child/teen groups:

    • 10 weeks x 8 hours/week = 80 hours (2 weekly group sessions plus prep)

    • Group planning, admin and intakes: 18 hours

  • January to April – continuation of two child/teen groups:

    • 12 weeks x 8 hours/week = 96 hours (2 weekly group sessions plus prep)

    • Group planning, admin and closing meetings: 18 hours

  • $41.75/hour

  • 8-month contract for the 2025-2026 school year with a possibility of renewal

  • The timing of the groups must line up with availability of KATI studios and student interns
